If I keep the side with the rips on the bottom and I put a mattress pad cover over the good side, will it be okay to use?

I was planning on having the baby sleep on the good side and keep the mattress well protected with a waterproof mattress cover.

What are the “rules” with crib mattresses? When should you throw them out or replace them?

Well, this one chain in town has returned mattresses from customers who brought them back withing the 60 day time period. They tell me that these mattresses are not returned for defects and that they have been tested at their warehouse, and that some people return the simply because they did not like the feel after sleeping on them. They are offering a King size Sealy Postropedic Plush Rothchild that has an original price of $2700 for $700 + $200 for box springs no warranty though. I can’t find much info on the “Rothchild” and Im not sure how much to worry about the warranty. Opinions?

Not the vinyl kind…They tear too easily. I tried one cloth cover before that was suppose to be waterproof, and it turned out it wasn’t!

We have a futon mattress that got leaked on with water and it sat for awhile before we found out that water had been leaking on it. It smells a bit musty and has water stains on it. Is there anyway to clean this mattress without ruining it? Also, we life in the rainy NW so is there anyway to get it to dry out quickly since we don’t get the advantage of heat or alot of sunny days for outside airing.

I have a mattress sitting in a storage unit NOT that tightly wrapped in this plastic mattress cover. Is it possible that it will be bug ridden deep inside the matress? Silverfish or bedbugs? Should it just be tossed out? I live in Missouri is that helps with the answer (we have lots of bugs here, ick. haha)
It is in the way back of the large storage unit so I won’t get to see it until we find a house and move everything out of it.
